The Izette Fourie Fund
In 2005, a young girl named Izette Fourie came to the Lewende Woord Bible College for the first time. The following year I had the privilege of having her sit in my class to study the Bible in our Biblical Studies Course.
Anyone who met her was immediately struck by her beautiful blue eyes that spoke of a vibrancy and passion for life. I remember Izette as a passionate, but humble young lady, who had the light of God shining in her eyes. She went on to complete a degree in Theology in 2007 and pursued God’s call on her life by joining Acts Ambassadors, a performing arts troupe using the arts to preach the gospel. Many remember her with fond memories, because in July 2008 she, along with five others, died tragically in a motor car accident while returning from a ministry appointment. This incident shook our lives as we were confronted with the agony of a life passing on from this world. She had impacted so many lives during her short time on earth. However, the testimony of her life continues to bear fruit.
In 2009, her parents and others sensed the Lord’s leading to start a scholarship fund in conjunction with Lewende Woord Bible College. The goal of this fund is to assist people who share the same passion for God and want to equip themselves for the ministry, and also those using the performing arts to minister the gospel.
This is our way of sharing with you the legacy of her life. For all those who knew Izette or in any way share the passion she carried in her heart, we provide the bank details for you to consider contributing to this fund that we may equip and support those God has called. We have apportioned the fund to assist full-time Bible College students, Correspondence students with our SATS office, and associated outreaches of the College, especially performing arts. Since the fund was founded, we have been able to contribute to one student’s full-time studies, three students’ degree studies and a Biblical Studies international conference.
